LANDIKOTAL: After the protest of FATA and Peshawar based journalists against the illegal detention of Khalil Khan Afridi who was in the custody of security forces for four days was released on Tuesday.
Khalil Khan Afrid, the journalist and the reporter of Khyber News in Landikotal was taken into custody by the security forces on last Friday (24th November,2017) after he with other four journalist colleagues escaped a terror attack just before the vintage and classic rally reached Landikotal.
After the protest of journalists across FATA and Peshawar, Khalil Khan Afridi was released and the security forces handed over him to the journalists and the Khyber News Tv team at Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency.
Hasan Ali Shinwari, the office boy of Landikotal press club and another car mechanic are still in the custody of Security forces and according to officials Hasan Ali Shinwari will be released on Thursday.
Khalil Khan Afridi was warmly received by Peshawar and Fata senior journalists who showered rose petals when he was released in Bara.
Mehmood Jan Babar, the bureau chief of Geo Tv Peshawar, Khyber Union of Journalists Peshawar president Saiful Islam saifi and a score of senior journalists from Landikotal, Jamrud and Bara subdivisions were also present at the moment when he was released.
Meanwhile a large number of civil society members and political party leaders rushed to Landikotal press to welcome Khali Khan Afridi. The leaders congratulated the local journalists on the safe release of Khalil Khan Afridi.
The journalists of Landikotal have applauded the support of Peshawar and FATA journalists who raised their voice for the safe release of Khalil Khan Afridi and organized protest demonstrations against the illegal detention of a journalist and the press club employee.
It is to mention here that BBC and journalists safety and freedom organizations have strongly condemned the illegal detention of Khalil Khan Afridi.
