Journalists escaped life attempt in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: An IED (Improvised Explosive Device) was found under the local journalist’s car but luckily the bomb was spotted by a security man which was diffused later. Official and eyewitness said on Friday

Official sources and an eyewitness said to mediamen that a bomb was seen by a Khasadar force official attached to the car of Khyber News Tv reporter Khalil Khan Afridi when he was busy in covering the 8th annual Vintage and classic car rally 2017 at Charwazgai area of Landikotal with his other journalist colleagues Farhad Shinwari, Umar Khan Shinwari, Mehrab Shah Afridi and Imran Khatak.

The sources said as the official seen that a bomb was hanging below the car of Khalil Afridi, Soon (BDU) bomb disposal unit was called on and  reached the site. The bomb was diffused successfully by BDU. Sources.

The journalists later shifted to the Army garrison of Landikotal for interrogation and are still in the custody of security force officials at the camp till filling this report. Sources said

Later another local journalist Sajid Shinwari was also called on by security officials for interrogation as he was also on the spot when he saw the bomb attached to the car with another Khasadar force official. Sources

The Landikotal press club office assistant Hasan Ali Shinwari was also called on by security force officials for investigation. Mediamen informed FATA voice 

Meanwhile journalists from Khyber Agency hold a meeting at Landikotal press club and expressed their concerns over the custody of journalists for many hours.
